DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHONOLOGY AND PHONETICS: phonology studies phoniv¿c element or unit of language from the point of view of their funtion, and phonetics describes the speech sound reproducing humans.

ARTICULATOR: Muscles produce changes in the shape of the vocal tract and in order to learn how the sound speech are produce, it is necesary to become familiart with the different parts of the vocal tract.

VOCAL TRACT: The air passages above the larynx.
- ALVEOLAR RIDGE: Just behind the upper teeth is a small protuberance that you can feel with the tips of the tongue.
- HARD PALATE: The hard portion of the roof of the mouth. the term palate by itself usually refers to the hard palate.
- SOFT PALATE / VELUM: The soft portion of the roof of the mouth, lying behind the hard palate.
- UVULA: the small, dangly thing at the back of the soft palate.
- PHARYNX: The cavity between the root of the tongue and the wall of the upper throat.
- TONGUE: Very important articulator and it can be moved into many different places and different shapes.
- TONGUE BLADE: The flat surface of the tongue just behind the tip.
- TONGUE ROOT: The lowest part of the tongue in the throat.
- EPIGLOTTIS: The fold of tissue below the root of the tongue.
- GLOTTIS: The opening between the vocal cords.
- LARYNX: the structure that holds and manipulates the vocal cords.
